On Christmas Eve, Lea and her Mom went around the neighborhood to look at all of the pretty Christmas decorations.

"Oh, Lea, look at the beautiful lights!".

"Hey, Mom, over there is a funny reindeer!", Lea giggled as walked.

As they rounded the corner, a certain display stood out to Lea. It was a woman, a man, and a baby. "What does it mean?", Lea thought to herself. She stopped and stared. Something was different about the simple decoration. Something was special. It wasn't the most shiniest or expensive, but it was so.... beautiful. She had to know why this was so different.

Lea went to the door of the house and knocked. When the door opened, a little girl holding a present was standing there.

Lea was shocked. "That looks exactly like the one I gave Hailey at the gift exchange!", she thought, surprised. The little girl smiled. "Hi! Look at my pretty present! Sissy gave it to me for Christmas this year."

"Who is that at the door, Lucy?", said a familiar voice. Suddenly a girl appeared. Thier eyes met and all at once, Lea knew.

"Hailey," Lea said. "Your decorations are so beautiful. I just had to come and tell you."

"Let me get my coat and we'll walk out and look together."

Lea followed Hailey back out to the display where they stood in silence.

"You know, Lea," Hailey began. "Sometimes, the best gifts don't come under the tree or in our stockings, but they come from the heart. The best gift I ever got was in a stable." "What do you mean?", Lea asked.

"2,000 years ago, my gift was born in a manger.", Hailey said pointing to the baby.

"He came to earth to be our Savior. He died on a cross and took all of our sins away. His name is Jesus, and he loves us so much. Becuase Jesus loves others, I can love others, too. Even when they aren't kind to me."

That's when Lea understood. That's what made Hailey so different. "So... If that gift came 2,000 years ago, I guess I can't have it, can I?", Lea said sadly. Hailey smiled. "Actually, you can."

Hailey explained that Jesus loves each and every one of us, and that he can come into your life and change you if you'll allow him in your heart. Lea was so excited. She knew she would never forget this night.

"Now I understand why you didn't open your gift. Instead, you gave it to your little sister.",Lea said. Hailey just grinned. A cold breeze ran through the air, so Lea stuck her hands into her pockets.

Her eyes widened as the felt the little plastic bag. Lea knew what she wanted to do.

"Hailey, this surely isn't as special as the gift you gave me tonight, but I would like you to have this." She handed Hailey the plastic bag.

As Hailey opened it, she gasped. It was the most beautiful bracelet she had ever owned!

"Oh Lea, I couldn't take this."

"But you have to.", insisted Lea. "Afterall, Christmas is about giving."

"Lea, honey, time to go!", her Mom called.

Lea gave Hailey a hug. "Thanks again Hailey, and Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas, Lea."
