Bye Bye, Blaire!
We did it- yesterday Doll Baker24 and I shipped out our Blaire dolls for the free eye exchange at the American Girl Doll Hospital!
If you're new to the world of American Girl, allow me to explain. Last year, American Girl changed the type of eyes used in the dolls. These eyes are not as high quality, causing the doll's gaze to be slightly downward-- she does not look straight ahead as the older dolls do.
At times, this defect can be easily overlooked However, when taking photos, it's a challenge to position the doll just right in order for her to be looking at the camera, and the defect is also more noticeable in person.
What does all that mean? Well, many loyal customers were not happy about the decrease in quality. After all, American Girl dolls are a bit expensive, and it would be nice to get the best out of what you pay for! So American Girl is now offering a free eye exchange for all dolls with the new eyes. In addition to that, they will also be returning to the classic eyes in future production!
It's going to be hard to part with Lottie, but hopefully after her "eye surgery", she will return looking even more adorable. My sister is sending her Blaire as well, so we're both curious to see how this will turn out!
DollBaker24's Luciana is traveling with the Blaire dolls, too. As you can see, she is definitely looking downward in this photo (taken at eye-level with the doll).
I've only sent one doll off to the AG Hospital before, and that was Lanie back in 2015 (hence the hospital gown seen in these photos!), but I'll update you as soon as we see the final results!!
Are you sending any dolls in for the free eye exchange?
